Hillrom / Baxter
Designed a 0→1 virtual care platform for nurses and physicians
Led the design of a new product for Hillrom (got acquired by Baxter shortly after project)
The challenge
Hillrom needed to design a new remote virtual care experience that enabled physicians and nurses to monitor and manage patient needs at the bedside — especially critical during COVID-era hospital pressures.
My role
I led product design for the 0→1 initiative, conducting research with clinical teams, mapping the end-to-end patient care journey, and designing a modular virtual care monitor integrated with Hillrom’s broader connected care ecosystem.
Success outcome
Designed and launched a bedside virtual care monitor that improved communication between patients and care teams, reduced call times, and introduced a scalable foundation for Hillrom’s remote care expansion.
Impact
✅ Launched first-of-its-kind bedside virtual care monitor
✅ Reduced average call-to-physician times by 32%
✅ Contributed to new IP/patent filing for bedside virtual care innovation
✅ Strengthened Hillrom’s remote care portfolio ahead of Baxter acquisition
